My Philosophy
When it comes to relationships, everything is personal. With heightened emotions and sensitive issues, I understand that family law can be emotionally charged area. However, the law is about logic, and as such I will approach your case logically but will do so with an awareness that considers the emotional impact of everything we do and caters to the delicate nature of such matters.
Emotion shall not get in the way of how I handle a case. I will not lead my clients in a direction I do not believe will be beneficial or within their best interests. Nor will I take an unreasonable stance or allow clients to throw their cases away by acting irrationally or vindictively. Divorce and family law issues do not have to be stressful or burdensome on your everyday life. In fact, when I practice with compassion and integrity, it is easier and more productive to reach the remarkable results that my clients want and deserve.
My philosophy holds true for criminal law cases as well, which differentiates me from other lawyers. As a criminal defense attorney in Lake County and Cook County, Illinois, practicing with compassion, integrity, logic, and truth have been integral in eliciting the most desirable outcomes for my clients.
How I will approach your case as a family law and criminal defense attorney
You are an individual and deserve to be treated like one. This is exactly what Coleman Law, P.C. strives to do when you come to us with a legal issue. I believe that every individual’s case is unique, and as a family law and criminal defense attorney, I will approach your legal matter in ways which specifically accommodates to your personal and individual needs.
To ensure that we take a concise and individualized approach to your case, I will do everything within my power to curate an in-depth understanding of you, your family, your wants, and your needs. I will make sure that at every step, there is clear communication about what you can expect and what your legal options are, so you are not overwhelmed throughout the process. In addition, I will make sure that the entire legal process is a joint effort and that I will discuss with you every decision to be made and that every choice made is at your own individual comfort level.
I believe a successful relationship between a lawyer and her client necessitates communication, understanding, and transparency and that is the foundation of my practice. You will never be left in the dark or left feeling unheard.
I will also take care to decide that all options that I provide to you will be fiscally sound. I will not file pointless motions or intentionally drag your case out unnecessarily only to have you owe an unnecessary and frivolous amount of legal expenses. Nonetheless, I will fight for you when it is financially worth it, but I will work hard to make sure you have the financial resources necessary for your future.
This logical and compassionate approach that Coleman Law, P.C. takes, as family law and criminal defense attorney, has allowed me to consistently obtain favorable outcomes for my clients
Other interesting things about me
I entered undergraduate with a focus on bioethics. However, when I took an internship in college, one where I had to observe court-ordered mediation, as soon as I stepped inside the courtroom, I knew that being an attorney was my true calling. I instantly felt comfortable in the courtroom and could easily see myself litigating and representing clients who needed someone to fight for them. That feeling, coupled with my ability to analyze facts and apply the law appropriately, solidified my belief that being a family law and criminal defense attorney was the right career for me.
I played softball and volleyball throughout college and played semi-pro beach volleyball through my 20’s and 30’s, however, after several knee surgeries, I had to retire in 2006. With a background in competitive sports, I have been able to transfer the skills learned, such as dedication, teamwork, adaptability, and resilience, from the field to the courtroom. Those attributes in addition to my legal knowledge and experience have led me to earn a reputation as a fierce litigator, one which my clients will be able to rely on and have faith in.
I also am involved with multiple legal associations and groups, including the Illinois Decalogue Society of Lawyers, the nation’s oldest Jewish bar association; The Force of Lawyers Against Sexual Harassment (FLASH), a task force dedicated to combating sexual discrimination, harassment and violence within the legal community; and both the Lake and Cook County Bar Associations. My service and participation in these organizations have allowed me to work with multiple communities, advocate for my beliefs and values within the legal community, and serve my community in ways that expand beyond inside the Courtroom.
